Matt Timmers, SE
Principal
Since joining JAMA in 2004, Matt Timmers has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s sustainable approach to structural engineering. He has co-authored multiple research papers on Mass Timber Construction and led JAMA’s Mass Timber High-Rise Design Research project which he has presented at several conferences. Matt is active in professional and community organizations including the International Code Council (ICC) Ad Hoc Committee for Tall Wood Buildings where he chaired the Structural Work Group, and has led an office-wide initiative to advance research and progressive engineering solutions in high-seismic regions like California.
Matt’s projects, spanning civic, higher education, sports and recreation, commercial mixed-use, residential, and science and technology sectors, benefit from his expertise with all structural systems, his understanding of construction best practices and sequencing, and his interest in efficiencies and lean building principles. Matt’s innovative approach to structural engineering results in right-sized and sustainable designs that are applicable to all building typologies.
Outside of the office he stays busy with his family, enjoying the great outdoors, brewing his own beer, and supporting his beloved USC Trojans.
