401 Ocean Avenue Multifamily Residential Development and Historic Renovation

This designated landmark residence designed by Robert Farquhar in 1910 on an ocean front site in Santa Monica significantly deteriorated from long term deferred maintenance. Our design included historic rehabilitation of the residence with new living quarters while maintaining interior decorative finishes along with restored exterior cladding and restoration of original windows, while preserving small garden spaces and an original decorative trellis. A new four- story building at the back of the large site helps support the project with ocean view living units and above ground floor parking. The new building meets sustainability goals and was extensively reviewed by preservation professionals and the City’s Landmarks Commission.
