This 103,300 square foot multi-disciplinary research facility includes teaching labs and lab support spaces, offices, write up spaces, conference rooms, and a flexible instructional and project space. The steel framing with concrete flat slab structural systems accommodates not only the site’s significant slope, but also mechanical ductwork, acoustic and vibration concerns and adaptability and future flexibility.
Designed to be the first truly interdisciplinary building at the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus, the William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation unites three colleges under one roof, exemplifying a growing trend in higher education: breaking down traditional education silos to foster an interdisciplinary academic experience and enhance workforce readiness.
