The renovation and seismic upgrade of Royce Hall, one of UCLA’s original historic campus core buildings which was severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The structural design restricts the potential displacement of its museum quality masonry exterior walls and preserves its historic finishes, while recognizing the life safety issues critical to this theater.  The project was awarded the “1996 Superior Structural Engineering Excellence Award,” the highest honor bestowed by the Structural Engineers Association of California.
