This mission critical, 450,000 square foot bed tower and diagnostic/treatment (D&T) project includes inpatient units, surgical suites, ambulatory treatment, interventional treatment, diagnostic imaging and other major clinical services connected to other campus structures via elevated steel bridges.
The 8-story tower will utilize steel moment resisting frames and be base isolated using triple friction pendulums and a perimeter moat wall, seismically decoupling the hospital from high ground motions at this site. The entire project, including the central plant, will meet stringent blast and progressive collapse design standards.
