1976 - Trailer Martin Appointed to HBSB

John A. “Trailer” Martin was appointed by the Director of Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) to the State of California Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB). He served as a member until 2005, and was elected as the Board’s Chairman for two terms serving from 1998 to 2003. His tenure was extended without term limits as a director-appointed ex­officio member. He also served on the HBSB’s Board Procedures, SB-1953 and Structural Regulations (Chairman) committees, the California Healthcare Association’s (CHA) SB 1953 Task Force, and co-authored the draft seismic retrofit regulations, Division IIIR of Title 24, which has served as the basis for OSHPD’s regulations for the structural upgrade of hospital buildings.
